NourishED was founded in 2024 after recognizing a deficiency and need in federal funding allocated to binge eating disorder research. NourishED prioritizes inclusive research on eating disorder interventions that are: (1) free or low-cost; (2) accessible (virtual or community-based); (3) socio-culturally sensitive, inclusive, and responsive to the unique experiences of indivdiuals with binge-type eating disorders and their complex sequela of adversity and health disparity(see Bray et al., 2021, 2022(a,b), 2023, 2024, 2025a,b,c).
NourishED Research Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofitorganization that uses research to change the conversation around eating disorders. We aim to improve eating disorder awareness, understanding, prevention, treatment access, and clinical and lived experiences. We use a four-pronged approach that addresses specific gaps in four different areas: (1) For folks who experience eating disorders, we leverage the nourishment of knowlege to provide mental health and whole health resources that are free/low-cost, virtually accessible or community-based, and socioculturally inclusive, sensitive, and responsive. (2) We provide resources and trainings for providers. (3) We raise funds to support inclusive research that can foster a more incusive understanding of what eating disorders really are and are not. (4) We use social media campaigns and outreach engagements to help change the environments eating disorders and health disparities occur in. Join Us!
